Whether packing up and heading out to one of our favorite getaways, admiring the view from some of those places, or enjoying some electronic entertainment, I enjoy the occasional diversion -- even if it is only for a few minutes. While I very much enjoy what I do as my vocation and avocation, I have a wonderful wife and two great kids with whom I enjoy spending my free time. That free time is spent occasionally on trips, but more often playing together outside on our bikes or inside at the "game table" or on our networked computers.
Whatever the chosen momentary diversion, it provides the opportunity to break up one's routine, step away from the tasks at hand, then approach them again with a fresh perspective. And, most importantly, it is a reminder to keep priorities in order.
