Charles Maggs graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a Bachelor of Music degree in 1983, and single subject teaching credential for music in 1984. He has been ringing handbells since 1974, and began arranging music for handbell small ensembles shortly afterwards. He has more than 80 pieces of handbell music for small ensembles and level 1 and 2 choirs that have been published by Cantabile Press and Genesis Press. He also performed with the Pacific Bells handbell ensemble for over 20 years.

Mr. Maggs has served in a variety of church music positions since 1979, including as handbell choir director, choir director, organist and music director. He is currently the music director at All Saints Anglican Church in Long Beach, California.
